About AAI and the Annual Awards Gala
Since the founding in 1953, the Africa-America Institute (AAI) has remained committed to promoting enlightened engagement between Africa and America through education, training and dialogue. AAI currently boast over 23,000 African Alumni who have received scholarships and fellowships. These Africans are now an esteemed network of alumni, many of who are leaders and influencers in public, private and non-governmental sectors throughout Africa and the African diaspora.
As the most anticipated Africa-focused event in New York City, the AAI Annual Awards Gala is an event which recognizes the achievements of Africans and Afro-descendants while celebrating Africa’s accomplishments.
The AAI Annual Awards Gala has been held each year during the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) and convenes distinguished guests, including Heads of State, diplomats, international and senior U.S. Government officials, business leaders, scholars, philanthropists and other prominent figures.
